Kat Country 103 has been around for 5 years now and is had finally dropped the "New" from their slogan. Ratings are finally starting to look more realistic. They have some new competition on the block Froggy 96.7 (which has now changed format to "Jammin' Oldies" and actually isn't too bad, nice change for the valley). The last rating period put Kat where they need to be on a even playing  field. Talk about running scared. They have moved some staff around. Moved one in from the dying Reno market and moved the Big Kahuna out to Salt Lake which is rumoured to be selling. Their premier morning man also went to S.L.C. They took a big dive in the ratings last time, we can only hope they sink to where their level should be, the bottom of the pond with the rest of the scum.

104.1 The Hawk continues to not know where to go. After firing one of their most consistant local jocks, (moi) and the morning man, that made up well over 50% of the station. Now they have some other unfamiliar voices trying to keep it together. I don't think morale can get any lower than it already is, but they are working on it!

Turns out, because of their sister station flipping formats, the morning show team has been replaced by the Bob & Tom show off the bird. Probably to satisfy the contract they had with Clear Channel to bring in their syndicated morning team. Either way it's not in the publics interest and a couple more people now are out of a job.

11-29-00 FORMAT CHANGE FOR 95.1 KHOP
Just after 4pm on Wednesday 11-29-2000, Rock 95.1 died and replaced by Planet 95 playing all 80's music. There is only 1 rock station in the greater Modesto area, and it's classic rock from The Hawk.

Rock 95.1 is still programming about 30% off of satellite shows. With all talk in the morning with Bob & Tom (Used to be Mark & Brian, but I guess they didn't want to renew their contract and chose to go with a show owned by the Corporation that is their direct competitor)  and all talk at night with Love Lines, you'd think they would just flip the switch and go fully automated since the so called "music" they are playing in between is just to pacify the record lables and jocks. Not to mention record geeks padding the PD's budget with cash for playing songs. Hmmm.......I think there is a term that is used for that kind of thing........
Lately, this station has been going down the drain, litterally in the gutter. With all testosterone air filled egoists working on this station, being obnoxious drunk perverts seems to be the popular way of life. Hmmmm..... I think there is a term for this.... uh... can you say LOOSERS?

Oh yeah.. not long after launching the KANM callsign, they decide to change it yet AGAIN to KESP. Still remains a lame sports talk station. Woo Woo....

970AM The Sports Animal is the biggest joke of them all. Going from nostalgia, to traditional country, to sports talk within a year, it's obvious there is no real *game plan*. If people want that kind of format there are better stations to get it from. Not to mention being in Federal Violation with their AM pattern. It was heard from some neighboring residents at the transmitter site that there has been some recent activity there in the field at night with flashlights. Maybe they have the X-Files investigating this mystery of WHY this company let this violation go for so long.  "Mulder, I believe this has been a repeated violation."

I am going to try and keep up with some of the recent rumours and happenings with this company. I hope it may help save some poor DJ from getting screwed over by them like so many in the past have. And I know it's not over yet. Remember "People are our most expendable asset".

We want to hear your horror stories about working for this company!!!
